The Ground Picker

See The Grey Cones Above?

This is Ideal Ground-picking for the pineconer. You notice the pine cones on the ground? Various colors are represented here, and they are decent sizes as well. One thing to note, whether you are ground picking, branch picking, or tree picking, size makes a difference. The volume in the bucket holds a different number of cones dependant upon how large the cones are. Bigger cones fill up the bucket faster, thats the way it is for the pineconer.

The Branch Picker

Wow! Excellent branch picking!

Th pineconer here has found some excellent branch picking in this picture. This pineconer is actually a good friend of ours, Dene Moore be sure to check out his website at DeneMoore.com, it is a great resource for a number of interests. Keep in mind, when branch picking, size and difficulty are important. The pineconer must remember the longer it takes to take a cone off, and the size of the cone rewarded after the struggle, will have a huge effect over how quickly the bucket will be filled, in turn the pine cone bag, and the pineconer's bank account.

Squirrel Pile Picker

Squirrels make Cone Piles

In an effort to reforset the earth for squirrels, deer, bear, birds, and man alike, seeds must be harvested from the cones, and yes, at times, even the squirrels help! The pineconer knows, that one of the best place to gather cones is in the LARGE piles squirrels gather. One pineconer even leaves peanuts behind for the squirrel, though the squirrels are quite resourceful, and have no problem finding more cones on their own.
